Pros

Reasonable hourly salary for a pharmacist in the state of CA. I have a lot of respect for SWY as they are fair in terms of pay and work environment. I appreciated the experiences, people, and patients I had the pleasure to serve while in SWY's employment.

Cons

High stress labor models are a danger to public safety, especially in the context of being required to give injections on demand, not to mention the legal aspects. Stop allowing the definition of success to be equated to the absence of failure. Pharmacists are dynamical health care professionals, not "robots." Why don't you value the pharmacist-patient relationship by increasing the pharmacy technician hours? You'll grow from good to excellent if you do, in my opinion.

Pros

Good work/family life balance. access to newer technologies. Open to individual learning - access to seminars, training classes and vendor conferences.

Cons

Buddy system is pervasive. Too much dependency on Vendors and consultants. Need to build in internal talent pool. Need to get out of silo thinking and thin enterprise.

Pros

Decent hours and conditions, guaranteed pay raises based on how many hours you've worked, good employee discount.

Cons

Conservative dress code, mismanagement, schedule constantly in flux, low hours and pay, and the union. I support unions, but the local union in my area of California is taking 80$ a month from my check and I'm getting worse hours, holiday pay, and conditions than my friend who works at Walmart. The union is good in some places like Seattle, and quite bad in others. The union is better if you plan to work for safeway for a number of years, but if you're just looking for a year or two stepping stone, look elsewhere.
