Pros

Good Pay Good Benefits If you like working with people and constantly changing situations it can be fun. Basic job is not difficult, merchandise in the back door and out the front door at a profit.

Cons

Long hours for management. Not enough hours available to schedule to get the jobs done. 24/7/365 nature of the business. Low salaries and minimal hours for non management employees leads to low quality employees. Experienced employees retiring/quitting leave little bench strength in the stores. Everything is analyzed, tracked, monitored. Fund raising campaigns have gotten out of hand Micromanagement is the rule. All stores are expected to be run/merchandised the same despite local differences. Sometimes it's hard to remember you're running a grocery store due to all the other functions required that are much more condusive to a factory or office setting
