Pros

I can think of no other position more rewarding and fulfilling than Store Manager for Safeway. Not only was I able to work with people all day long, but 'WE' were able to do extraordinary things and achieve goals most thought unattainable. A great time with great people.

Cons

Work hours can be long and tenuous as a Store Manager or ANY salaried manager for that matter. On easy weeks I would work 35-40 hours and on hard weeks my schedule would reach roughly 70 hours. My position isn't paid by-the-hour, so the more time I spent at work, the less I was compensated by hour.

Pros

Safeway has always done well with the benefits offered to the employees. Continuing to do so has been a benefit to all. What Steve Burd is doing with our health care benefits is fantastic. He is offering those that lead a healthy lifestyle a lower insurance premium. It's an innovative notion. The work life balance is good with Safeway. Upper management (at least those I've worked for) are very good about allowing that balance.

Cons

Occassionally long hours and the negative attitudes of some management personnel.

Cons

Long hours, very poor quality of life, totally uncaring senior executives that are only interested in placating stockholders while coninually treating employees poorly.
