Pros

Good colleagues. Average pay. Standard benefits.

Cons

Bonuses get downgraded every year as do raises based on mysterious "internal targets" that will never be met. It's very much a "shareholder first" company with customers and colleagues bringing up the rear. We're undergoing another round of stealth layoffs with more to come as the CEO forces people back to the office. So much for their green credentials as they force people to waste more hours of their lives sitting in traffic and burning fossil fuels so they can commute to the office and spend their days on Teams calls. It looks like the C-suite strategy is to increase their own short-term bonus potential and then ride off into retirement leaving the debris behind.

Pros

Pension plan (employee contribution +2% up to 10%); Benefits package; Retail discounts; Performance-related bonus; Salary, unless you're coming in new where it may not be competitive; Some managers are realistic, fair and understand staff are humans with lives and commitments outside of work; Hybrid working providing you work 4 days or more; 5 volunteer days; Personal development days; Can be involved in activities like volunteer days, hackathons and gigs if managers allow release of staff; Flexible working at managers' discretion.

Cons

SLT are out of touch with reality; Blanket change to hybrid working means it is being removed completely for some part time workers; Annual reviews and individuals' worth is based on the bell curve which removes any incentive for some to exceed in their role knowing there's no point in pushing themselves for no gain and to not even be acknowledged as being fully proficient just to fill the left of the curve; Often cannot obtain the required hardware/software to do your job due to budgets yet the company can throw cash away on pointless things like free branded socks, cakes and sweets, merchandise, and electronics and gift cards just for sharing corporate posts on social media; Salary advertised and offered to new joiners is not competitive and will not attract the best talent.
