Pros

Good benefits and competitive salary.

Cons

As with most big corporate companies you really are just a number. With many offices closing down they are forcing employees to commute to different offices which has a massive affect on employees' work life balance as well as financial positions. Saving / making money is the end goal, even at the expense of their employees' well being. Everyone is replaceable as the people sitting at the top don't care about who you are as an individual person and your contributions to your team. Company Targets are NEVER met. So as mentioned in other reviews you will never reach your full bonus potential. Teams are severely understaffed. It was even communicated to the company that high performers will be given more responsibilities. We have not been able to replace any resources that have left in 3 years. Again, anything to save money at the expense of your employees well being.

Pros

- The colour green is nice. - Many of the people that work here at "ground level" are genuinely passionate, kind, lovely people.

Cons

Sage has a very "3 steps forward, 10 steps backward" culture. It's got aspirations to be a forward thinking, modern SaaS company with progressive values - yet , just when you think they've "got it" they come along with internal policies that take us right back into the dark ages of corporate dystopia. Recent changes have brought along a new policy where ALL employee's worldwide are expected to come in 3 days a week, regardless of part-time/condensed hours arrangements. Even so, for full-time employee's that have regained hours of their lives back over the last 4 years from remote work this change is a step in the wrong direction. They've done all this under the guise that they have listened to employee's feedback, and that they "care" about our wellbeing and happiness... but their usual corporate spiel in communicating this to colleagues like we are inept is nothing short of condescending and offensive. It's clear that those at the top are getting itchy over the idea of employees enjoying their lives, no longer wasting our precious short time on this Earth in outdated, call-centre-like offices or enduring 2+ hour commutes each day. This push, like much of what we see in our modern world, feels like an attempt to exert control over employees’ lives post-pandemic. They’ve witnessed how much personal freedom we've reclaimed, and to companies like Sage, that’s seen as a threat. But I can't put it all down to this mindset, it's obvious goals were not met this year and instead of those in control reflecting on their own management decisions they've gone down the "it must be the worker's fault"... a particular Principal Skinner meme comes to mind when I envision those high up reflecting on company performance/policies... "Am I out of touch?... No, it is the children who are wrong".

We recently also answered several colleagues' questions about the new 3-day policy. In doing so, we've shed more light on how colleagues will be supported as they adhere to our updated hybrid structure. Pros

Employer pension contribution Purchase holidays

Cons

3 mandatory office days: Sage say they listen to their employees and advocate employee mental health and wellbeing however internally majority of colleagues are incredibly upset with the office days now going to 3. Sage say this is global to make it fair which just highlights how distant senior management really are. Most of product/backline work across different countries so we will just be coming into the office to sit in teams calls all day. Sage have said the 3 office days will improve productivity but with no evidence to support that - unsurprisingly they said that productivity during COVID was at an all time high when they needed us to work remotely. To highlight the type of employer Sage have become they only notified employees of the increased office days after their internal glint survey which speaks volumes. Senior management: I find the decisions made not just to employees but to our products that come from senior management show no real understanding of staff or customers. Management just have no grasp of our customers actual wants and needs and are more concerned about new features that look bright and shiny and can be bragged about rather than providing customers with basic but incredibly useful features and maintaining a strong product with fewer bugs - it's a constant race to get new features released. Lack of promotions Promotions are constantly on hold. I have been put forward 3 times now from 2 different managers and am constantly being rejected for no reason other the lack of budget - this is a common trend from what I can tell in my area. Maybe spend less budget on meaningless instagram worthy moments that colleagues get with a couple of alpacas.
