Pros

I have had personal growth and training for my sales position through the company. I have had opportunity to grow my sales expertise and make President's Club 5 times consecutively.

Cons

Our sales office consists of small cubicles where no one can have a real relational conversation with a prospective client, unfortunately. Our product is Christian music and Christian talk and teach programming but unfortunately not everyone in our office listens or likes our product which makes for interesting meetings. If you are here just for the money, or working in radio - good luck. I am here for the mission.

Ups and Downs, But Definite Growth in Media

Pros

So I work for 2 stations under the Salem Umbrella, legendary radio station in New York City, WMCA 570, now New York's Christian Talk. I also assist AM 970: the Answer our conservative talk station that is slowly gaining recognition in the Big Apple. Being at Salem has helped me gain more experience and knowledge of how to run shows for 2 professional radio stations. On-the-job training benefited me in a big way.

Cons

Being we are short-staffed I've been asked to work many different hours and have agreed because well I love radio. For NYC, however, the production side of things should have at least 20 people who can run control room and board op shows day in and day out, to give relief to the main people working hard to make these stations a success.

Pros

If you have a passion for radio and for the lord this is the place to be. I love the environment of teamwork and passion that my coworkers have. I've been in secular jobs before and to have the ability to freely express my faith in the workplace to me is a big blessing... What we do here in Salem is changing lives each and every day. Imagine being able to evangelize through your job and being able to reach such a large number of people... Its Mind-blowing!

Cons

It is what it is... The job is great though you are sometimes doing a lot more than what you are compensated for.
