Pros

Salem is a company that realizes that it has a role in every community in the country. The company's vision understands that the United States is a diverse place and reaches those communities without abandoning the mission of providing family positive programming to the community. As a longtime Salem Employee, this is one of the main attractions for those who come to the corporation.

Cons

The negative aspects of Salem are institutional. The company has been a top down corporation that does not understand local needs from time to time. I have seen changes in this direction though. The company seems happy in reaching mission instead of competing against direct competition.

Pros

I've worked for many radio companies and have been with Salem for 12 years. I am one of the newest at 12 years. There is very little turn over at my outlet. Great focus and work ethic among fellow employees and we all have fun together. I still hear horror stories about the other companies. Not here! I feel valued and have been supported during my entire time here. Departments work cohesively and this brings a great product forward. My experience with this company leads me to believe that they are dedicated to churning out great results, are fiscally responsible and are not worried about what might happen. They live in the present and use each day to build a better future with proper principles, morals and sound business plans.

Cons

At this time nothing comes to mind.

Pros

The Christian programming is uplifting. Employee benefits are slightly better than that of other industries. There's plenty of parking spaces.

Cons

Spouse and dependent benefits are very expensive. At my location, the language that is used by supervisors is not something I would want my family to hear and something I would not expect from a company that airs Christian programming. The communication and organization is not the best. Hourly wages are less than a checkout clerk at a big box store, but the demand and responsibility is high. There seems to be an implication that you should thank the company for giving you a job as if the employee owes the company. The company is run just like every other secular company, but with Christian programming.
