Pros

From free donuts, candy, snacks, quarterly office parties, on-site physical training on Tuesdays, super fun ping pong breaks, free soft drinks, free coffee, foosball table, bicycle machines, skilled, fantastic and fun people, solid Christian values, and compensation that helps pay the bills, this place is great.

Cons

If you don't want to support faith and family during your day job or if you want the highest paying job possible, you might not enjoy all this company has to offer.

Working at Salem Exceeded All Expectations

Pros

The leadership at Salem has great integrity. My supervisors are kind, fair, and supportive. Our teams are tight knit. Our salaries are comparable. Our focus and hearts are in the right place. The employees are cared for, without lowering expectations of excellent work.

Cons

In certain ways day-to-day work can be discouraging (specifically dealing with customers, readers, and viewers). But that's to be expected in any field. I couldn't support my family on my salary alone.

A Company in Need of Direction

Pros

The company has a staff dedicated to sharing the gospel in a number of mediums. This is a company that understands the audience and how

Cons

There's almost no focus on developing employees and helping them to grow. If you want mentorship and guidance on advancing, you'll have to do so on your own time and at your own expense. Far too many talented employees leave because this is missing. Really, this all points back to a lack of clear vision. The company floats from one good idea to the next, snatching up properties that seem like a good idea at the time and going after whatever market seems like it will grow. All the while, there's no real direction as to who we are or what we stand for. This means that projects rise quickly and die just as quickly because there's no long-term planning. You can expect to jump on whatever idea management likes at this moment at the expense of projects that take time to grow. This means missing the best opportunities to run after ones that may or may not be so good. In the long run, this type of management style will cause a slow loss of traffic and trust among the Christian audience.
