Pros

Most of the individual contributors on the sales team are very good people. They kept an awesome attitude through a very rough period. That said, most of them are gone by now so that could have changed. You can be your own boss once your manager gets fired and not replaced.

Cons

They will mercilessly overhire and dramatically over allocate quota relative to the actual company sales goals. They kept hiring on the Enterprise team mid year when YTD quota achievement was under 10%.. By mid-year, many reps who had went to club last year had ZERO deals. Some new hires didn't even get a quota before getting let go. (~3 months) Managers didn't understand the comp plan (not that it was used at all). Demand Gen was non-existent and the product category evangelism wasn't being executed properly. Sales Engineering was very smug - not sure why they felt that an ego was deserved. This is the standard MarTech playbook to give out quotas 2-3x what the company number is... so Salsify didn't make this strategy, but they sure are implementing it. If you are a talented sales rep there are places that will treat you much better than Salsify.

Pros

Tech stack pretty up-to-date Lots of opportunities in the Boston Ruby community Stocked kitchen Ability to work remote

Cons

No 401k match (and other related benefits) - some local companies the size of Salsify have much better benefits Not great communication between teams (both within engineering and in general) Some teams are more cliquey than others Difficult to tell what can get you a promotion (supposedly same rubric across engineering teams but doesn't always feel that way)

Pros

- Great office - Friday lunches - Stocked kitchen - Ability to work remote when you need it

Cons

I would not recommend working at Salsify within the next year or so. They have a lot they need to work out, especially with their operations. All of the reviews you will read will be positive. Behind the scenes it is chaotic, stressful, unorganized and non-transparent. There is almost no time to do work during the day because you are constantly in meetings. You will have to put it a lot more hours outside of work to keep up with everything. They are slowly trying to build a solid foundation for many of the divisions of their company so there is a lot of uncertainty right now. The operations processes are non-existent. It is difficult to even begin to create any sort of process because there are constant re-orgs and changes. Things are done in a quick, disorganized, sloppy way. Operations take time to build and QA - Salsify does not understand that. If you are looking for a job with structure, where you feel appreciated and part of a team Salsify is not the right place for you.
