Pros
The workload was manageable. There was a lot of opportunity for overtime that could either be paid out directly or saved as comp time. It was a nice arrangement.
Cons
Expectations were very lax. There were people who procrastinated tasks for YEARS, yes, years. Then, when a few new people came on board and actually wanted to get things done, we were told not to rock the boat because it might ruin their nice gig. Management is not composed of managers, it is generally composed of people who were very good at their jobs and were promoted to where they don't get to do them anymore. It's the Peter Principle at its finest.
