The only pro is some of the people I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years.

Cons

Pay is sub par for what is asked. Expect to be rode hard and put up wet. You can go five years or more without a raise. If you don’t kiss the right butts you won’t get far. I’ve watched vendettas push people to quit or get fired because upper management didn’t like them. Forget promoting from within they’ll hiring over you regardless of how long you’ve been here or how hard you work. I don’t see an end in sight until I quit or retire.

I've been at Carbis for over 27 years. The fact I have been here so long speaks for its self. The projects I get to work on is vast which I really like—designing brochures, Photoshop work, video shoots, website work...etc. Carbis is a family owned business, but really everyone here is family. I truly feel like Carbis cares. I have seen this first hand. A few years back I had to fly to England twice in the space of a week. When I explained the situation to Shawn (the President), I was told not to think twice about work and time off—just go.

Cons

Might not be the most glamours product to market to, but that's OK : )

I used to watch the show "How it's made" on the discovery channel, and I find this job is very much like that. I get a behind the scenes tour of manufacturers of a wide variety of products, and learn about their businesses. This role has allowed me to feed my interest in learning about "stuff" while simultaneously helping my clients. I know my job is appreciated by clients in I can help them both increase the productivity of their operations and make their employees safer in the process.

Cons

It's a 4th generation, family owned safety company, and the management can be very conservative at times. They're very interested in protecting the business and their employees, but sometimes can be hesitant to take risks. This is improving, but sometimes can be frustrating.
