You are able to put an extra effort into your work, if that is something you value. There is always extra work that can be done and there are many opportunities to show your willingness and ability to work hard to your employer. However, most of the time this extra effort does not result in additional compensation.

Cons

Management expected unrealistic amounts of work to be accomplished by an understaffed team.
