I've been working in mostly industry but also government and academics for over 25 years. Samtrans Central Office, within the Fare Products and Analysis department is among the worst work environment I have ever come across. There are some really nice people, a manager and a director who befriended me while I was there but unfortunately, I ended up being hired by a manager who had technical and temperamental deficiencies that made my work at Samtrans particularly difficult. It seems that Samtrans uses probationary periods for employees to get complicated work completed within teams but treats it like you are a contractor here for a limited time. My advice to people considering a career at Samtrans is to thoroughly research the hiring manager and make sure the working relationship is a good fit.
