The whole company works hard - there's a real culture of performance & achievement Management approach requires more rigor and thoroughness than at most other companies The obsession with "#1" is real& alive here - and it's good to work in a place that places such a premium on success Decent benefits Competitive pay at more senior levels (director & up); barely competitive pay at lower levels
Cons
Morale is pretty awful Lack of visibility into top management direction Poor top management decision-making despite demanding standards of proof All money controlled by Koreans - even local top management have to get on their knees Merit doesn't count for a lot. Shitty performers get the same raises as the best ones - maybe 1-2 % less. There's really no people mobility across businesses - particularly if you're good at what you do! OVerall, the place lacks a sense of humor - takes itself way too seriously Everyone is accountable to top Korean bosses - and those bosses live in a perpetual state of nerves, have little or no management training, whole-heartedly believe their American colleagues don't know how to make good decisions (we know coz they tell us), and change directions on a whim. All in all, sucky.
