      Best company to work for, in South Korea, but still in need of globalization

      Pros

      Global help desk helps foreigners with many different issues encountered in Korea for free. Healthcare, transporation to work, meals are provided to employees for little or free of charge. Free training courses.

      Cons

      Still not fully globalized. Discussions are mostly conducted in Korean. Reports are wrtten in Korean. Managers often cannot speak English. Not enough empowerment to the junior employees.

      Pros

      Good company reputation and technologies that they have. I can have many connection working in samsung semi conductor area. I experienced real manufacturing and research.

      Cons

      It is difficult for everyone to develop their own career since limited opportunity is given to individual in terms of publication and conference attendance.

      Great employee benefits (health care, 401K) Nice employer subsidized cafeteria Stable company with great financial performance

      Cons

      Poor management with unrealistic workload. Many of the senior management team, including the President, are dispatched from Korea, with a very traditional belive of good workers should work long hours Poor advancement policy (min. 2 years between promotions), less incentive to perform the best within the first year of promotion Very Korean-centric cultural Samsung punishes loyal employees by paying more and giviing better titles to new hires with less experience or lower qualifications
