Workers are not allowed to utilize times where they have no work to listen to music, do homework, read, or draw. Workers are expected to sit in a chair and face forward for hours on end with no human interaction, even into the late hours of the night and early morning. Workers are paid minimum wage and are expected to deal with dangerous situations, security risks, parent complaints, police, constantly breaking equipment, and extremely rude students. Furthermore, there is little to no support from FDSMs, as they do not offer much leeway. The position is brain numbingly boring and a waste of time, unless you enjoy getting cursed at by drunk college students regularly.

The structure; the politics; SDSU does not prioritize staff salaries or staff well-being in general; salaries are low for the cost of living; expectations are ludicrous for the pay; very difficult to obtain a raise; if you stay here for years, your salary WILL become stagnant which cannot keep up with the cost of living on the long-term (aka, you're losing money); people constantly leaving so it's hard to get things done or someone has to pick up the slack; don't expect much or any telework if that's a priority of yours; little to no staff development; training is practically non-existent, you have to rely on the people that have been there the longest, good luck if your team is brand new; a lot of processes take a very long time to process, and many people will ask you for things last minute and expect them to be done ASAP, which is not realistic
