Pros

Overall, SNL was a great place to work. The pay was great for postdocs (especially if you live in Albuquerque), and you have the opportunity to collaborate with some leading scientists in your field. They have plenty of resources, allowing you to pursue your own research interests, enabling career development. They also host seminars, workshops and meet-ups with former alumni and leading researchers/professors, with the goal of helping you find the 'next' job.

Cons

It seemed that most postdocs joined SNL with the aspiration to be promoted to a full-time staff member. Whether or not this is possible is entirely dependent on the federal funding situation and headcount trends. You can get a job more easily if you're willing to transition into an engineering/defense-aligned role; contributing to the scientific mission will become difficult, however. I feel like staff members are not upfront about this possibility when hiring postdocs, which may lead to mismatched expectations.
