Great hospital to work for

Pros

Lots of resources for staff RN. Rescue RN to help with the IVs and PICC dressings. Supplies for the unit are well stocked. Great hospital to work and learn from. Lots of incentive shifts if you want to work overtime. Hook ups to discounts at local restaurants and businesses. Lots of opportunities for advancement. Staff are friendly and promote a culture of teamwork. 4% 401k matching, cheap health insurance.

Cons

$23.80 base pay with 1-6% annual salary increase per year is low, even when compared to neighboring hospitals. Not all units are not well staffed due to high turnover. This means you might be down a CNA or two at times. You have to stay 2 years for the 401k or they take it away.

Not a good company to work for.

Pros

Co-workers band together to provide good patient care because that is why we went into healthcare. That's really about it, but there's a 20 word minimum so I had to add something else.

Cons

Poor benefits - cost increases every year, above our "raises" and our "bonuses" - coverage decreases every year. High deductibles Poor pay - raises are 1, 2 or 3%. (only a lucky 10% get the 3% raise) Poor management and way too many of them. Understaffed because of the above listed reasons - current staff overworked. Limited investment options No staff appreciation or recognition. Absolutely no attempt at staff retention - instead of rewarding or recognizing current employees they offer things like $20,000 bonuses to new employees making current ones feel even less appreciated.

Pros

Some people are nice and want to help by being a preceptor to new nurses.

Cons

Some of the most offensive workplace bullying I have ever encountered. If you didn't grow up in this area...watch your back. TRF MN Clinic
