If you are looking for a professional position DO NOT, DO NOT take a Technician position just to get your foot in the door. It will take you forever and a day to move up with two exceptions. One, if you are related to or good friends with a hiring manager. The second exception is if you look really good in a mini skirt and are able to flirt with hiring managers. Then and only then do you have it made. The same is true for technicians. They post most openings to advance to a higher level on the off shifts. Moving up is a rare occurrence unless you are willing to take a night shift position. It really helps if you are related to or a friends with a manager or if you look like one of "Charlie's Angels". Actual qualifications mean very little at that point. Quite frankly, I was shocked at how unprofessional things are for being such a large international company. Most of my working life has been spent at local companies and I was enamored with Sanofi when I got hired. The company orientation was very impressive and I had thought the place was the Shangri La of employers. After being there close to a decade I find myself being greatly disappointed in hiring and advancement practices.

Loss of Genzyme culture since Sanofi took over, work-life balance can be difficult at times, lack of consistent communication and policies/procedures across sites.
