Pros

Good pay. Good benefits. Opportunity for advancement. Better self guided learning tools. Doing more to improve work life balance, especially for the salaried employees. They keep investing, expanding and innovating.

Cons

Hourly: Generations of apathetic union attitude. Seniority is everything. There is little if any accountability for sub par performance. Union protects deadbeats. Doesn't do much to actually help it's own future. Salary: There are a few systems level, organizational shortfalls. They tie up a lot of resources.

Pros

Company Business strategy changes with market demands and evolves to keep up. Environmentally responsible facility High tech control systems Variety of different control strategies Relatively secure workplace Decent benefits Pay is ok

Cons

Building logistics Poor housekeeping practices Poor planning/scheduling Difficult to get needed tools/equipment for maintenance personnel to perform work Quality work and complying to national/state codes not a priority. Company doesn't value hourly personnel's contributions. No formal trade specific training programs or apprenticeships. Terrible communication between operations, maintenance and management. Millwide nepotism in hiring and advancement opportunities. Short handed maintenance departments, but company expects workloads of full strength departments to be completed. No incentive to to go the extra mile in work and no consequences for slacking off.
