Pros

Good benefits and close to home

Cons

HR department is the biggest joke ever as they tend to give promotions to incompetent people. Over-hype in terms of family Company as people barely talk to each other

Pros

- Union Wages (they wouldn't pay us what we make without the union)

Cons

- Management rarely leaves the office or breakroom, organize matters or know of any of the going ons in the plant. In turn, workers and their politics are left to distribute the work which leads to 90% of the work being done by 10% of the workers. - Maintenance are very rarely seen doing any real repairs or work at all, and just sit around in their separate building or walk around telling the actual workers how much they make, and brag about how little they actually do. - There is no accountability or discipline. Lazy employees get away with doing very little, and sit in the breakroom the majority of the time, and in turn a "he's not doing anything why should I?" mentality is present. Having an actual work ethic gets you rewarded in no way at all except more work pushed onto you, and therefore more opportunities to mess something up and get blamed. - Any part-timer who is more competent then others is forced to learn more complicated jobs for the same pay. - Hours are middle of the night or late afternoon and you need 25+ years of seniority to get weekends off.

Pros

Unionized above average wage job with incredible benefits. Four day work weeks consisting of 9.5 hrs +OT gives you a fair amount of rest time considering the amount of manual labour. When the time comes vacation is very fair. Stock contributions are also great.

Cons

At times there can be a lot of shuffling from nights to days and vice versa. For the most part only a one week schedule is presented at a time which can make planning things very difficult. Adequate labour is needed to meet the demands of employees when it comes to time off. Leaves of absences have been denied (you're entitled to a month per year) because of this. Some jobs can be brutal on the body, back and wrists especially.
