Pros

Discount, but you have to wait 2 days AFTER the item you want is out on the floor to purchase. No first dibs! No real perks for employess, unless you like working in a Prison Camp!

Cons

Well, you are basiically treated as a thief once you are hired. They search your bags everyday or everytime you leave the building. They search your lockers. ( they don't think you have any ethics) You are told NOT allowed to take any bathroom breaks unless it is your alloted 15 minute break or on your lunch. If you do have a medical condition, you have to get a doctor's note. REALLY!? And, they don't provide you with adult Diapers! The Management and Trainers are condescending and rude. Expect to get talked to as if you are 3! Unreasonable quotas have to be made daily, to help this greedy company get richer. SLAVE LABOR! WALMART OF THRIFT STORES!

Pros

I don't have any pros at all other than the 50% discount. That's literally the only plus.

Cons

I can't help but vent about my previous employer. Never have I ever in my life worked for or witnessed a company that treats their employees so badly. I worked for the company for 13 months and it was the worst 13 months of my life. The entire management team with the exception of one manager is beyond corrupt and selfish. The working conditions are terrible, the management talks poorly about employees behind their backs and makes up rumors about them. The thoughts, feelings and concerns of all of the employees are disregarded. When the annual reviews came around, they were based off of the manager who wrote the review's personal feelings of each employee and had nothing at all to do with their work ethic. The store manager couldn't care less about any of the employees personal lives or how they are treated. When I showed favoritism for one of my managers, my hours were cut nearly in half and I was given a review that was not a all based on my performance- it was at this point that I had enough and quit my job. I had worked as a manger there for a brief time before I gave up my position because of mistreatment and poor pay. During this time, I had tried to call out due to a family emergency and my manager had a melt down and when I came in she said "thank god, I almost missed my hair appointment." And on another occasion this manager had a meltdown because I wouldn't skip my graduation practice to cover her shift so she could go to a concert. I handed in my two week notice on that day. Working for this company made me seriously depressed to the point that I almost went to a mental hospital. Multiple of my ex coworkers have expressed those same feelings. I honestly don't know, how the company as a whole treats people. I only know how the management at this specific location does an I can tell you that if cooperate had witnessed everything that went on in that store, there'd be an entirely new management team. I had a manager that favored a coworker of mine and would sit in the break room and eat snacks with this coworker and talk for hours- on the clock. I'd be denied a break so they could talk and hangout. This company is bull. It's about time that someone speaks out about it.

Pros

There are many long time employees of the SSC, and lots of turn over. Upon hiring, my first thought is "this is where people go to retire", the average age of the office must be over 40. That has some advantages such as work ethic, not many millennials have the same work ethic. Office has easy access to freeway, however limited parking. There are some really nice people that work here, however hard to find a co worker to connect with. No happy hour or after work get together s or department lunches. With turnover there is room for advancement, unfortunately too many long timers lack skill-sets necessary to advance. If your motivated, bright and looking to grow your career in two years, i believe you can do it here, however would recommend this just be a pit stop to establish experience with a large organization.

Cons

Leadership lacks connection with its managers. As a manager you consistently struggle with trying to please the field employees and directors's, but get no appreciation from them. Systems are seriously lacking many employees have the technological skillets that one possessed in the 90's. Office environment is seriously lacking and gray, i understand that its a thrift store company, but some color on the walls wouldn't hurt.
