Pros

During my time at Scala I worked with some exceptionally talented people. Every department had good, knowledgeable team members who know how to get the job done and treat customers with the respect they deserve.

Cons

The vision and goals for both the company and the product line are a constantly moving target. We joke that it's always "the next shiny thing". This happens at many companies, however, this is not conducive to efficient business and long-term viability. Too much volatility in the delivery of support to the customer that conflicts with delivery of product to the market. It was a constant struggle to do the right thing versus do what has to be done to get through the day.

Pros

Fixed 9-5 work timings as implemented by US. 5 days a week. Weekends are off and no official calls / mails expected beyond work hours. Easy and stable environment forever. Job security is very high, but not job satisfaction however.

Cons

Very low learning and growth curve. Skills get rotten. Others are hired who dont even have any skillset Payscale is below average in the industry, except for the R&D team. Management is a bunch of cousins from the same family, who don't have IT background. They are from age old non-IT sectors, they show absolute bureaucracy and highly unprofessional. No process, standardization of rating criteria during appraisal. Biased feedback. Employees hired on management's reference who are least committed to work and very lethargic are always rated well and given nice hikes than the ones who are not hired through reference, but performs well. Decisions are taken just like that without considering any process/approach. Very small company where they don't care whether you work or not, as long as you show your presence at your desk and staring at your monitor entire 8 hours without breaks. Highly unsuitable work place for an ambitious and passionate career professionals. Good place for one who is very lethargic and expect a daily engagement for a time pass, but it comes with a cost of lot of politics and bureaucracy.
