Pros

Staff is great, relaxing environment

Cons

employees are separated into family and friends of higher ups and the nots, health insurance is not the best, vacation time isn't great, passive aggressive attitude, employee ownership means you have a share in the company profits not a voice. Benefits afforded to others are not reciprocal.

Pros

Schmitty & Sons has been a great place to work. For a company of nearly 700 employees, the culture is friendly and the people are great to work with. The actual day to day work is engaging, challenging, never boring. The company is very driver centered and is always looking for ways to improve our processes to keep employees happy! Since becoming employee owned in 2016, it feels like one big team working together for a common goal.

Cons

Sometimes staff must drive in an emergency situation. Some employees like it, some don't. This is fairly standard in this industry. It seems to boost morale among the drivers to see their supervisors drive.
