Pros

Employee-owned company that doesn't let the quarterly earnings influence its customer support and investment plans. Invests for the long term. Smart engineers that build great equipment.

Cons

Very family-run business (even though it is employee owned). Don't question or challenge the executives. They will use FBI level surveillance on you to find a reason to fire you. Surveillance includes monitoring all email, IMs, cell phone text and voice conversations and even using advanced listening gear to hear conversations outside. Need to provide objectives for employees and let them implement them and not micromanage them. Let them do their jobs.

Not great.

Pros

Free lunch on Fridays. Lucrative ESOP somewhat makes up for sub-par compensation levels and insurance. Many of the lower level managers are actually nice. Work can be interesting, but it's hard to focus on it because of all the politics.

Cons

Rampant nepotism. Cult of personality centered on founder. Very conservative, traditional company averse to adopting progressive policies. Sub-par compensation levels and insurance. Upper management stacked with bullies. Palouse area isn't a very vibrant or exciting place, and is just far enough away from real civilization to be frustrating. Friday lunch presentations are little more than cheerleading. Negative news is only shared after the consequences of some disastrous decision have become self-evident, and the company realizes that it has to clear the air.

Pros

good company and good benefits and steady or the same routine if you like steady schedule

Cons

boring and doing the same thing with the same people for about 5 to 6 days out of week and you have to watch what you say because anyone can go up to HR and report you
