Pros

Scotts is the most unique place to work. The leadership is amazing who do even more amazing things for their associates. We like to be industry leaders and trying things new ways or seeing things from new perspectives is encouraged. However, sometimes we can run too fast and trip over our own feet. Over the handful of years I've been at Scotts, I have seen it grow. Not just in sales but in talent development, better communication from the top down, and just being better leaders.

Cons

Like I had mentioned above, we can move really quickly and sometimes that can put hurdles to overcome later.

Pros

Wonderful culture; impressive salaries and benefits; onsite fitness center and wellness clinic; terrific associate engagement programs.

Cons

CEO has the foulest mouth of any person I know on the planet. It is well documented, and his behavior has even earned him a rebuke from his Board of Directors. Scotts is fantastic until they fire you. About every 2 to 3 years they undergo a purge. The running joke is when the overflow parking lot is full, it's time for layoffs.

Pros

Excellent benefits: affordable health/dental insurance, on-site fitness and medical services, 401K match, early release on most Fridays throughout the summer and before holiday weekends.

Cons

Management is dysfunctional. Strategic direction changes frequently, creating a chaotic environment and wasted resources. High levels of churn through associates quitting from frustration or being terminated, creating lack of continuity and loss of knowledge. Overall atmosphere of anxiety and fear of losing one's job. Also a "good old boy" sexist/racist environment. Great products, so it is very unfortunate that the company is so poorly managed and the environment is so toxic.
