Pros

Knowing your making a difference in the lives of kids. Great Program that you can stand behind. Lots of potential for upward movement within the organization. Insurance and Retirement

Cons

Work/Life Balance is very hard. You can easily make everything you do about scouting. Upward movement/promotional will mostly involve moving from one council to another. So be prepared. "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust...what the volunteer wont do the professional must." - if you don't have a good volunteer base, you'll end up doing everything yourself. You can easily burn out if your not careful. Working with volunteers means you will be in meetings after normal business hours which can take you away from family.
