Pros

Remote-friendly culture, decent benefits, a few good people who work there (but rare)

Cons

Enough people on Glassdoor have already described why Scribd is dysfunctional and toxic, so +1 to those descriptions—especially the lack of strategy and coherent or sensical creative vision as their new brands launch. Additionally, as highlighted by previous reviews, layoffs (multiple per year) disproportionately affect people from marginalized groups (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, etc)—at a company that has nearly zero diversity. If you’re not laid off and identify with these communities (or are an ally or advocate), the Scribd workplace is not great. I’ve seen derogatory and highly offensive ideas being perpetuated as the company ushered in its new brands (as if it’s the year 1923, not 2023). Then staff are minimized and demeaned if they speak up to hold them accountable. Leaders/managers tend to be intimidated by people who are intelligent/experienced and who challenge their worldview—and they act as if their world/their job is more important than it is—at the expense of others. If you decide to work here, create the most resilient boundaries imaginable.
