Pros

There are some truly amazing people at the individual contributor level If you like to hear how cool Yahoo and eBay are, you'll enjoy the leadership team...

Cons

Say goodbye to any idea that working hard will allow you to keep your job. It will not matter how dedicated you are or how much you accomplish, you will get "restructured" out (and find a posting for your role a few months later.) The culture has turned toxic. There is no team mentality across the company now, it's replaced with high school-esque cliques and the "cool kids" are just ass-kissers. Scribd used to be an awesome place to work. Collaboration was central to the process and it didn't matter your position, your voice mattered. That is NOT the Scribd of today. The website and company values may say those things but the reality is the opposite. I used to be able to say a lot of pros, but they are not there anymore.

Pros

Noble company mission and values. Great aspirations. CEO is genuinely a nice person. Great library.

Cons

CEO is awful at hiring and managing his exec team. Current (Q2 2022) COO & CTO are in way over their head and are both terrible as leaders and exhibit classic narcissistic and egotistical behavior, including bullying and dismissive language to anyone who isn’t the CEO. They’re also not nearly as smart as they think they are, and not even half as capable as the previous COO and CEngO. (Who also had their flaws, but were thirty times better leaders than the new crop) I still have some faith in the CFO and CEO, so if you work in finance or marketing, give it a shot. But it is a brief stop, not a place to grow a career. Also diversity numbers are good. But real diversity at exec level doesnt exist.

Pros

Good perks and benefits, as well as interesting people.

Cons

Horrible leadership that doesn't care about its employees and feels the need to create a sock puppet account to post the only recent positive review in a sea of negatives.
