Pros

The scheduling was pretty flexible and our chief scribe was very understanding and accommodating. I loved my coworkers — best part of the job was getting to learn how different providers do certain things and how other coworkers document things. Would highly recommend if you want entry-level medical experience and have strong attention to detail. Pay is decent for entry-level.

Cons

Hours are long — you're there as long as the physician is there (sometimes longer, if it's a particularly busy shift or if you're slow to chart). It can be pretty taxing as far as attention to detail — you really have to be paying attention at all times, or you might miss something important. Some physicians won't understand the value of your work and won't communicate with you.

Pros

Gaining lots of knowledge and experience that will be useful in healthcare careers.

Cons

Awful company to work for that absolutely does not care about their employees and views them as expendable. They expect a lot from employees that they only pay minimum wage. Constantly increase the job duties without increasing pay.

Pros

If you're planning to enter the medical field, this a good job to get near hands-on experience shadowing doctors while getting paid to do so. Now that the company is remote, they're pretty generous about sending you the equipment needed to work from home.

Cons

Pay is not the best. After getting a promotion last year, I was told I could make 13.50/hr doing administrative work that the Chief Scribe needed help with. What I wasn't told was how rare that can sometimes be. So I still make the base pay of 10/hr like most starting employees. And with many other companies offering the same position for a much higher pay, it's unfortunate that ScribeAmerica chooses to pay their employees so poorly. Again, it's a decent company to work for short term to get some experience, but it's not a company that you should spend too long in.
