Pros

Experience with ScribeAmerica tends to vary greatly depending on location, so take my input with a grain of salt. Overall, I've had a good experience. If you are considering a career as a medical provider (physician, nurse practitioner, etc.) then the experience that this job provides is great! You get to directly see how providers interact with their patients and how providers approach patient care and medical decision making. My experience with other scribes, chief scribes, and providers have also been great, so I'm very thankful for that.

Cons

- The pay is not good or competitive, especially considering the amount of work that is expected of you. - No such thing as calling off. If you get sick or what have you, you are going to have to find coverage for your shift, which can get tedious at times. - You do not get paid for being on call. - Lunch breaks are essentially non-existent. The ED is usually very busy and getting a lunch break is uncommon. If you want to eat, that usually entails shoving food down your throat in like 5 minutes. There are many cons, but if you can overlook them, the job isn't so bad. The experience you gain makes it worthwhile.
