- The pay is not good or competitive, especially considering the amount of work that is expected of you.
- No such thing as calling off. If you get sick or what have you, you are going to have to find coverage for your shift, which can get tedious at times.
- You do not get paid for being on call.
- Lunch breaks are essentially non-existent. The ED is usually very busy and getting a lunch break is uncommon. If you want to eat, that usually entails shoving food down your throat in like 5 minutes.
There are many cons, but if you can overlook them, the job isn't so bad. The experience you gain makes it worthwhile.
