Pros

-Great exposure to medical care and understanding medical decision making (excellent for pre-med/pre-healthcare students) -Get to work alongside awesome medical providers -Good exposure to emergency medicine.

Cons

-Pay is awful for starting scribes -Long hours, no promised meal times -Can be a stressful environment, don't always have the resources you need to effectively do your job in a timely manner. -The client (ie, group paying SA for scribes) really determines whether you'll have a good or bad experience. If the client is awful (over-demanding, doesn't really care about the scribes, keeps adding extra duties with no pay increase), that will likely negatively impact your experience.

Pros

The experience you receive working one on one with a physician is priceless.

Cons

With the amount of work and long hours scheduled, scribes should at least get paid $15 an hour. They do have career opportunities, but the hourly increase isn't much.
