Inconsistent, low-wage, irreplaceable experience for pre-med

Pros

1) You get clinical experience and opportunities for letters of recommendation unlike any other opportunity I can think of 2) They technically pay you money 3) You could get a great manager

Cons

1) Relative to your skills and dependability, they pay you nothing 2) You depend, at least in an outpatient setting, on the schedule of your doctor, which can be remarkably unreliable 3) I had a great manager so I felt like I was valued by the company. However, you are a dime a dozen. There are a million other premed students who want your spot.

Pros

Good exposure to doctors and medicine

Cons

Horrible pay and horrible HR, no benefits, no time off, no sick leave, and there are literally no subs to ask to help with time-off.

Pros

Clinical Experience, there really no others

Cons

Horrible pay, no set schedule or job stability, no respect for your or your time, no organization. The company's only goal is their benefit. They charge the hospitals $22 for our work and only give us $10 of it. They overwork you and underpay you because they take advantage of premeds and the fact that we need clinical hours. They also do not care about the fact that we need steady jobs, you may sign up for a full time job, only to find out that you are only working 28 hours a week...They also add shifts into your schedule whenever they need you, even if you only signed up to be part time- so if you have other obligations you will often have to fight to actively remind people not to schedule you for shifts without even asking you. Although the company is absolutely terrible, the doctors we work with and the hospitals we work for are not at fault. Some of the doctors are fantastic, but scribeamerica is AWFUL. Avoid this company if you can!!
