Pros

Great job for a medically geared college student.

Cons

Small yearly raise. Not too much room for advancement unless your willing to relocate.

Pros

Great experience in the medical field that cannot be duplicated in any position without becoming an MD Or PA. You learn a lot, and the high level of acuity makes work interesting.

Cons

The pay is exploitation of college graduates looking to get in to medical school. The only way to move up is to become the chief scribe, who, will probably be younger than you. The project leader doesn't really care about you just covering their own actions. Non compete clause when quitting is also very questionable.

Pros

The best clinical experience you can get if seeking admission into medical or PA school. Anyone can take vitals or room patients, but walking through a provider's medical decision making for every patient you see in a high acuity setting is not something everyone can do. Most importantly this experience is paid... most people would have to volunteer time just to even get a fraction of the experience you would get as a scribe with SA. Very high learning curve. You must be willing to study hard during training and also be able to apply it when working clinically. Not everyone makes it through training. (just like not everyone makes it into medical school or gets into a good residency program)

Cons

Pay is on the low end. Hours can be long.
