Pros

Clinical exposure, Great experience for those wanting to become Doctors.

Cons

Minimum Wage Pay for Incredibly Hard Work. No breaks. Rarely get lunches. No overtime pay. No health benefits. No vacation/sick pay even for full time employees. No night shift differential. Scribes make minimum wage and chief scribes make only a few more dollars. Project Leaders (one step above chief scribes) make 6 digits WITH bonuses. They make more money when their sites are profiting so don't plan on getting a raise. No support from management.

Scribes at ScribeAmerica currently receive an increased wage once they pass through our training protocol and have developed the skills necessary to work one-on-one with a provider. ScribeAmerica provides a cost of living wage increase annually for employees who have worked at the company for a pre-determined length of time, and additional raises are based on performance and promotions to positions with greater responsibility. ScribeAmerica provides opportunities for breaks and meal periods, and pays overtime wages in accordance with applicable federal or state law. While ScribeAmerica does not disclose the wages of its employees or management, our Project Leader career path is compensated at based on the fact that the position requires constant nationwide travel. Working as a scribe can be very challenging, but enormously rewarding for the right person.

Pros

Allows you to gain knowledge into emergency department interactions. Learn first hand knowledge of how doctors handle certain situations and overall gain healthcare experience.

Cons

No benefits whatsoever. Near minimum wage pay. Inconsistent scheduling even for so called "full time" position. Unprofessional "chief scribes" (varies per location). Exploitative company management strategies.

ScribeAmerica offers benefits to its career-oriented employees, including medical benefits. All employees are currently eligible to contribute to our 401K-retirement plan. While the reviewer assumes that ScribeAmerica has little or no overhead costs, the reviewer is quite incorrect. All employers, including ScribeAmerica, incur payroll tax costs, insurance costs, payroll processing fees, and administrative expenses. In addition, employers in the medical industry, including ScribeAmerica, incur significant healthcare credentialing costs that allow its employees to work in medical facilities. Finally, ScribeAmerica provides significant paid training to all of its employees, which generates additional costs at the expense of revenue.
