Pros

Work 1-on-1 with physicians and gain incredible knowledge and experience. The doctors I worked with were so amazing, always open to answering questions and teaching you about their methods. My time in the emergency department is something I will always be appreciative of.

Cons

Scribe America is very focused on their own benefit, rather than the benefit of their employees. The hospital pays them over twice what they pay you, and the company is overall incredibly shady. My best example of this is that they tout that you will get a raise after 3 months of employment, however, for me and many other scribes, this never happened. When our chief scribes realized this and tried to get us our deserved back-pay, HR at ScribeAmerica blocked them from doing so. For a few of us who had worked there full-time for 2 years, we were owed over $2,000. A couple of us trainers were also never paid the extra $1-2/hr when training other scribes. Many of us were forced to try to reach out to HR ourselves, but as this was around the time that COVID hit, things got hectic and we never heard back, though I continued to work until December of that year. I eventually gave up trying and took the loss, as I was exhausted and struggling with mental health due to COVID, then started medical school the next summer; but I truly hope I can help someone else by sharing my experience here.

Pros

Really interesting job, especially in the emergency department where you are constantly doing something.

Cons

Only downside I can think of off the top of my head is the pay being $10 per hour for the amount of work you do. I also got a 0.05 cent raise after working there for two years which was ridiculous.

Pros

Invaluable experience. There is great flexibility for schedules and now they have at-home positions

Cons

Recently, this company had MAJOR pay cuts to employees. Project managers, quality assurance managers, and floor trainers were cut down from $16/hr to $10/hr with a "performance based pay". However, these project managers who are having to WORK these clinic shifts to do workflow mapping are only getting $10/hr for something they HAVE to do for their project manager job. This company does not care about employee well being and being able to make ends meet. Even full time employees are STRUGGLING to make their ends meet after these massive pay cuts have been made. Employees work long hours with little pay and at the digression of their provider. More times than not upper management has no idea what is going on on-site because they make no effort to be credentialed at the sites they maintain. They do not understand the work conditions and have the audacity to believe that after such major pay cuts that employees are doing fine. Newsflash ScribeAmerica, they are not. ScribeAmerica is making managers have poor pay and additional work/labor.
