Pros

The physicians can be some of the greatest people in the world and that is completely separate of ScribeAmerica. The experience is great and if you put the time and effort into it you will learn a lot for health care careers. If you suck up to the higher ups they will overlook others for you.

Cons

This is a pyramid scheme kind of company. The top few percent of the company make most of the money and the bottom larger percent are treated like slaves. The pay is HORRENDOUS knowing that the doctors pay so much more for the service than their scribes are being compensated. There is not great management of management. If your chief scribe is not a moral person, there is nothing that can be done because just like most monopolies this company will deny, deny, deny. I think it says something about the company that the average rating after quite a few reviews is very low. Don't do this full-time, do this very part-time for a long time rather than full-time for a short time.

Pros

Great exposure and learning opportunity. It is an advantage to be able to work closely with medical providers and interact with them.

Cons

Communication with corporate is always a struggle. Emails go several days to get a response, if even at all. It appears nobody in cooperate communicates with each other as information has to be repeated to everyone numerous times. Pay can also be better.

Pros

I work at a location in New Jersey, and I love interacting with the doctors, who are very friendly and willing to teach scribes. The position is a great opportunity to observe other medical fields in the hospital, create connections with doctors/PA, increased typing speed and accuracy, and medical knowledge.

Cons

Since its the ED, expect to work on weekends and also weird hours of the day. You can have a shift start in the mid evening and go into late night, this leaves little or anything to do before or after. Also pay is not the best, there are other scribe companies, often smaller than Scribe America, that pay almost 1.5 of what is paid here( $10/hr).
