Pros

Looks good on a resume

Cons

Aweful training, treated like absolute crap even though I was not really trained properly. People your same age talk down to you as if you were worthless. Its basically like going through hazing week . Horrible pay because they know that pre med students will basically work for free.

Pros

Medical experience is amazing for a job that doesn't require a collegiate degree. System that we use allows for a very flexible schedule that allows for coworkers to easily drop, add, or trade shifts.

Cons

Pay is alright for not needing a collegiate degree, but we do so much that we should be paid more. Hiring process is truly a pain. It took me 3 months to actually work a healthcare environment due to the long and drawn-out training process. There isn't much growth in the company.

Pros

If you're interested in being a doctor, PA, or a nurse this is one of the best jobs you could ever have. With time you'll learn disease trends and the process of determining a diagnosis. You'll learn what lab values are normal/abnormal. If you work with really great physicians you'll even gain a basic understanding of reading chest X-rays. This job gives you the ability of building a relationship with a provider/providers so that when you apply to med school, PA school, etc... You won't have to worry about finding someone to write your letters or recommendation

Cons

Absolutely awful pay. I've been with them for 1 year and making 10/hr. Scribes should be able to qualify for raises based on the quality of their charts, experience, etc... Being a scribe can be very stressful especially when you have a high patient load. I believe once you been a scribe for 6+ months you should be a making a minimum of 12/Hr. Sometimes you can go hours upon hours without eating, since some doctors don't take breaks.
