Pros

Good money, you will get in shape after about a year, teaches you what hard work really is, B shift can sleep throughout the day, health insurance, paid vacation, 1 day off (8 hours only) for every 2 months of perfect attendance, 2 p.t.os per year, $20 extra per week of perfect attendance, smoke area inside building, you can bid to try to change jobs after 2 months of employment (however some people wait over a year before they are allowed to change jobs)

Cons

There are several jobs in the company that are very easy but you do not get to choose where to work. Most jobs are very difficult, and supervisors get very angry when you need to use the restroom, even though you are allowed to go anytime you need to. The 2 breaks are short and you have to be quick to get in line for food/bathroom. The climate is cold and the people are very disrespectful if you do not stand up for yourself. You will work with people of all languages around the globe and although that is not a bad thing, sometimes that becomes a big issue when there is a problem and nobody can fully communicate with each other and you have to talk with your hands. The trainers will put you on a job you've never done before and just leave you there, only showing you how to do it less than a handful of times and then will check on you every 3 hours or so on a good day. If you need a break you have to tell them it's an emergency or they will be reluctant to take your place.

Thank you for your review. At Seaboard Foods, employees are placed in their jobs based on their pre-employment physical. We perform a job safety analysis to place people in jobs that fit their physical capabilities. Due to the number of languages spoken at the plant, we try to place employees near a translator that speaks their language. After an employee’s probationary period, they can bid on different jobs they feel are more suitable to their needs. We will pass your concerns to our team.
