Great place to work, family environment, decent benefits, 'healthy environment', and room to grown.
Pros
Benefits are not the greatest but they are okay. Work loads always seem to expand, however, compensation makes up for it; your job expands then your pay does as well. The assistant positions are for the higher executives only and the pay is above average for executive administrative positions in the Johnson County area. When I worked there, what I loved most was that you have a guideline to your job description but they let you make the work your own and no-one was standing over your shoulder. The executives are down to earth and you would have no clue you were standing next to billionaires. They are absolutely wonderful. Lots of activities, team happy hours, Royals games, sponsored runs, habitat for humanity, etc. There is a gym in the building and you also get a discounted rate at a nearby gym.
Cons
Not much room for growth in the KC office, which is the headquarters. Most people have been there for YEARS and don't plan to go anywhere anytime soon (thats saying allot right there). There are overseas positions and positions with some of the subsidiaries like Butterball, Seaboard Marine, Seaboard Foods, and PS, International. Although its nice to not have anyone over your shoulder all the time, it is also nice to get feedback and reviews but unless you are high-level executive you don't receive reviews and you don't get feedback unless you ask for it. You have to branch out to expand your job or no-one seems to know what you really do. Allot of the employees workout which you think would be good BUT then you find that if you don't workout, you don't belong. There are actually cliques for those that workout, those that smoke, and the younger crowd that forgets to get fully clothed before going to work. If you don't workout over lunch with the majority of the building you can feel really looney because they will outcast you quickly. Senior-level management is often heard joking about other employees, their personal lives, and how provocative they dress, etc. The majority of Senior execs are men and the HR department is all women and one man. The man will always share your personal business, nothing confidential is actually confidential.
