      Getting laid off... US Support going overseas

      Pros

      Cafe is good. Free coffee. Brilliant, talented coworkers that will get better jobs after the layoffs.

      Cons

      CEO is a blithering idiot. All US support is going overseas. Layoffs are imminent. Stressful work environment. Poor planning, poor communication. Training and career advancement are lacking and no focal. Product to market is slow. Vacation was sold off the books so we have "flex time" but no ability to actually take time off because we are so busy with work. Insurance has high deductible, high out of pocket cost too.

      Look good on your resume, that's about it.

      Cons

      Word of advice to Finance/Accounting folks looking to join. Stay Away! Culture is one of the worse, people stuck doing things the old way and not willing to adapt to change. Low compensation compared to competitors, mgmt often hold back focal increases to meet budgets and thus resulting in huge turnovers. No career path for younger generation wanting to grow and move up. HR is a joke and don't even intervene with the politics that go on in Finance.

      Pros

      Great place to work if you are passionate about data storage and acknowledge the fact that the company is a dying breed.

      Cons

      The company exclusively designs and manufactures hard disk drives. They are facing extreme pressure from the flash storage market. The company leadership is either incapable or doesn't care to change the direction of the company and so the company will die in a few years. The company only promotes yes men who go along with the poor decisions of the executive leadership.
