Pros

This company does push the envelope of technology and implement new ideas very quickly. Exposure to many different Engineering disciplines is common and to be expected. Holiday count and vacation time are very good benefits for new hires. Our facility offers on-site restaurant and gym equipment and with instructors. Insurance overeager is normal.

Cons

The hours are long if you are working a issue that is hot ( frequently ) and need solutions yesterday. Currently, in 2014 and last year the management went to a flat cost model for R&D expenditures with no yearly cost-of-living increase. Instead they will give you a yearly bonus which may of may not ( typically ) cover the actual cost-of-living. They are going away from Preferred Physician Provider (PPP) and going to a high deductible insurance model.

Pros

The compensation is good, and the company is flexible about your time off and working hours. The U.S. sites are outgrowing the 8-5 working hours culture and recognizing that business in a company that circles the globe happens 24 hours a day.

Cons

Still uses a stacked ranking system and there is little visibility to comparisons between departments. This forces the same distribution of rankings down to a small department level. If you hire well and build a talented department this can be very demotivating.

Pros

Incredibly diverse cutting-edge technology, many highly skilled managers and engineers. Part of a highly competitve industry. Many opportunities for acquiring new knowledge. Variety of career paths.

Cons

Unforgiving work environment at times due to extreme pace of development - mistakes are not forgotten. Long hours. Several key directors and VPs are highly insular, usually standing in the way of meeting customer goals in areas of design, reliability and corrective action. Corporate level is often unaware of the bad rep their products have in customer installations and how poorly the new designs meet customer needs. It is therefore extremely difficult to change the tarnished image in the markeplace, where perception is everything.
