Pros

Creative, friendly atmosphere. Good professional relationships. Great mentors. Profit sharing. Culture is very positive, can do attitudes. You are free to make your decisions and run with them.

Cons

Winter weather conditions at one site. The investment community's perception (erroneous) that flash drives are instantly replacing hard drives. Cyclical nature of the industry.

Pros

I enjoyed the time I spent here and do not look upon going to Seagate as a bad decision or a mistake. The people I worked with for my strategic initiatives were GREAT! My benefits and salary were great, but Director level and below were paltry.

Cons

- CEO/COO not committed to marketing. 4 SVPs and EVPS cycled through managing marketing during 2 year period. This has significantly hurt the retail side of the business where Seagate HAD a chance of giving WD a run for the money. - Too many priorities which causes a lot of investment dollars to be spread too thin thereby minimizing projects and processes that scale and ultimately deliver an impact and return. - Layoffs average 1 each year for the past 8 years. Newer employees usually first to go, which still allows employees with longer tenure to continue to do things the same old way they have done things, which noticeably correlates to a lack of proactivity and initiative - Getting rid of poor performing employees (those that have been with Seagate a while) through perf improvement process a joke due to a rather paranoid stance from an HR and Legal in trying to minimize cost incurred by defending legal action. - Seagate employees have historically shared very sensitive strategic plans with WD. Problem still occurs to this day but not quite as bad as the past.
