      Pros

      The work is challenging and the design process is very dynamic and fast paced. The compensation and benefits are reasonable.

      Cons

      The industry is highly cyclical, which drives restructuring and layoffs essentially on a continual basis. Also, there are threats (perceived and real) of solid state storage replacing magnetic storage.

      Very good working environment with friendly colleagues around. Most of the big bosses are very very good and take a good care of subordinates

      No life... 24hrs standby and cannot balance the working life vs. family

      cutting edge technology decent salary and benefits some very competent managers good communication very relaxed environment in mfg and prod devt

      Cons

      very top heavy - more director level people than technicians; causes turf wars, silos, empire building, effort duplication, etc. Sr management is not diverse for a technology company engineering management is power point driven project management sr management out of touch with what goes on in factory floor and work flow realities- they do not go on floor. Culture does not force engineers to go in factory floor and solve problems but sit at desk Legacy organization- old boys look out for each other, lot of dead wood No accountability for under performers
