Pros

Good benefits, good workplace environment.

Cons

There are not many growth opportunities at Securian. They don't reward tenure, and that is obvious by their internal promotion policies. IF you can get promoted, you are promoted at quite a steep deficit from market rate. Gain experience here, but then move on to companies that appreciate your value.

Pros

Exceptional company, AMAZING people, extremely professional, great benefits, generous servants to their surrounding community, and a place for which I was very proud to work. In fact, I would be working there now but have not yet found the right opportunity.

Cons

It is difficult to cite this as a "Con" when it is what every company should strive for, but turnover is incredibly low in most divisions. Translation: Nobody wants to leave. The only downside to this is that it can make things take much longer if you are trying to progress your career.

Pros

Promotion from within is common. Good learning and development area. Career growth coaching & support. Positive and forward thinking CEO. Pleasant atmosphere.

Cons

Expensive food options and parking. Not very cutting edge with technology and slow to adopt change. Lean staffing models means some positions are overloaded with work. Business professional attire and culture. Nice campus, but very bland (picture working at Google, but remove all the fun stuff). Telecommuting and flexible hours is not encouraged or available for most positions. Salaried associates are expected to be available 24/7. Healthcare sucks.
