Pros

I have been working for a month now, and my experience is very positive. From the first day, I had an onboarding plan that included functional modules to learn and the main stakeholders to meet. I have clear goals for the first 3-6 months. My team is very supportive, everybody is happy to help. A big portion of onboarding is self-studying, the company has very good document repository. The team I work with is very high performing, everybody is a strong professional and results-oriented.

Cons

The onboarding speed was quite fast; in the first days, I felt overloaded with the volume of information and intensity.

Pros

Salaries are on a high of market in EU Great people among those who were hired while company was really growing

Cons

Disclaimer- I had to remove the previous review and re-uploaded this due to confusion with one of the ex-employees who was let go recently. I used to work in the company till end of 2024 and review below is a combination of my firsthand experience of nearly 9 years and recent actions company took. Used to be a great company with lots of growth opportunities and true culture. Now the rift between C level and the rest is enormous, they let go of the teams that worked on projects with different divisionist and no one can replace . After that management blames others in their harsh decisions because apparently no one explained the true value of aforementioned teams. The atmosphere is of fear and uncertainty, especially for those tied to their working visas, but higher management pretends that everything is great (which is not and can be proven by recent results and market reaction, just google it). Internal operations is not even a joke cause it simply doesn’t exist, every division is siloed, there is 0 to very little cooperation, everyone is trying to chase made up goals that have no real influence on results)internal or external). Move towards corporate America was their biggest mistake, as this led to a culture of praising each other and patting on the back between higher management while those who actually do the job suffered for the lack of the better word. Burnout is real, along with transparent hints on the current job market (like be grateful you still work here and don’t complain). Regardless, they will ask employees to create a bunch of fake positive reviews just to keep rating high (just check out a review from 27th of August, the day 120 people were laid off, looks genuine for sure). UPD - already deleted 😆 I’d advise to talk to anyone who’s an ex employee of the last year or so to get a real picture before joining.

Pros

There is plenty of opportunity to succeed at Semrush. Some may argue there's a sink or swim culture, but that's the nature of sales and the reality of a public company on an aggressive growth path. From my experience, this was the expectation given and what I signed up for. As a scrappy startup for most of its life, today's Semrush definitely inherited some legacy process issues that needed overhauling. There have been flaws in our GTM strategy, backend and how we market / position our products, but I am happy to say the progress develops day by day. New leadership across every department from the C Suite to frontline management is making meaningful positive change a reality. The enterprise product team have built an amazing ecosystem of solutions that are only set to improve further with the massive investment Semrush is making in r&d. Sales leadership is demonstrably invested in the success of the reps on the team with the growth of the enablement department and improved tech stack. CEO Bill Wagner is excellent. Founder and CTO Oleg has built a tremendous company and done right by his employees.

Cons

As noted, there are definitely some issues with process that need improving. These are not existential crises to be fair, but rather quality of life issues and corporate bureaucratic red tape that make the job harder than it needs to be. There are serious silos and a lack of transparency from department to department. But there is an acknowledgement from the CEO all the way down to frontline management of these issues, a roadmap for fixing them, and already demonstrable evidence of improvement. Semrush is lightyears ahead of where it was when I joined, and the trajectory a year from now is far greater than where we are today. If you can self-start and pick up sales process pretty quickly, have no issues self-generating pipeline, and are enthusiastic about the intersection of SEO and AI, you can have a great experience working here as I have had.
