Pros

Semrush did offer valuable training and learning opportunities, particularly regarding their solid product. This aspect could be highlighted as a positive takeaway from the experience.

Cons

Working at Semrush was a frustrating experience due to numerous organizational shortcomings. Communication and trust were severely lacking, creating a sense of uncertainty and disconnection among employees. At the managerial level, there was a noticeable lack of direction and competence, leading to confusion and frustration within teams. One of the most concerning issues was the constant changes in the sales compensation structure. Quotas were frequently increased while sales reps were paid less, creating a demotivating environment and eroding trust in the company's leadership. Excuses such as "we're flexible to changes" were commonplace, but it became evident that these changes were not well thought out and often compromised employee well-being. Furthermore, it was disheartening to see the CEO's disregard for the sales team's importance within the company. This lack of belief in the sales function translated to zero motivation for employees, further exacerbating the already poor morale. Overall, working at Semrush felt like being on unstable ground, with the constant fear of job insecurity looming overhead. The company's focus on pleasing investors at the expense of its employees' well-being only added to the dissatisfaction. It's clear that significant changes are needed to create a more satisfactory and sustainable work environment.

Pros

Great product. Great sales people

Cons

AWFUL leadership. Make decisions behind closed doors on who stays and who goes without looping in a direct manager. They don’t care about people who have spent years selling semrush. They want new fresh faces that aren’t going to speak out about constant changes to the sales org every 3-6 months. I could go on for days, but if you’re looking for a stable job - I encourage you to look elsewhere.

Dear Sender, Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Indeed, our organization has undergone some changes. These were driven by two main factors: our sales performance and a strategic shift towards focusing more on the Enterprise instead of Middle Market. We ensured transparency by openly communicating these adjustments. Sorry to hear you left feeling disappointed. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and remember, our team is here to support you whenever you may need help. Yours, the Semrush Team
