Pros

Decent pay and benefits, but long hours expected.

Cons

Lots of energy in all the wrong places and somewhat schizophrenic. There is an extremely strict dress code but profanity, screaming and overly personal questions by coworkers and supervisors are acceptable. There is a lot of pressure to work long hours with promises of promotions that are never realized. There is a strong culture of "the old boys club", made up of virtually all men. Women don't have opportunities past middle management. Nepotism, nihilism and brown-nosing are the unspoken requirements of employees. There is a lot of fear among employees that one will be fired for any minor infraction. When people leave, it is rarely on good terms whether voluntary or forced. It is also located in possibly the worst neighborhood in St. Louis. If not for an armed security presence on the property, I would be fearful to even go into work there. It overlooks dilapidated factories and condemned housing. Overall it is a very uncomfortable environment. There is an intense feeling of big brother watching at all times leading to a lot of stress and a palpable repressed anger among employees shown with malicious gossip, eye rolling and general disrespect for others. Upper management has no respect for employees and thus, employees show no respect for each other.

Pros

401k is vested immediately so I guess that’s the only good thing.

Cons

Holy moly there’s so many cons. Everyone is intimidated by the management, who, despite insisting they don't micromanage, act completely to the contrary. Your sales numbers don't matter here. If management has a bias against you, they'll give you a hard time and badmouth you, no matter how well you perform. Perfection is the only acceptable standard. Make one mistake and you're in for a tough time. They don't acknowledge that losing sales is part of the business; instead, you'll be tasked with writing essays explaining your every move. They may claim that their culture isn't for everyone, but in reality, that's just code for saying they're toxic—and you'll have to put up with it

Pros

Fast paced and great benefits

Cons

Sensient management has developed and encouraged a misogynist culture that has spread too far for far too long. HR believes an apology is an acceptable repercussion for sexual harassment. No professional woman would ever feel comfortable working in such a toxic environment. Sensient has no faith in the knowledge and education of employees due to the increasing need for management to misplace blame while under the microscope rather than deal with the true issues at hand. The consistent turnover with both management and employees causes issues when the company does not replace positions when employees voluntarily leave the company.
