Pros

Gratis (free makeup, skincare, etc), 401k, medical benefits, bonuses based on achieving sales goals, rewards for your store doing well in various contests (I had earned enough points through our store's success to get a free $400 digital camera - awesome), hands on training and education (although this has changed in the past year and a half or so), and a closeness you can find nowhere else! Such an amazing company. Sephora is like a sisterhood (with a few brothers too!) that allows the best of friendships to blossom. The environment is fun, non-catty because we aren't commission, and allows you to express yourself in a way you wouldn't be able to elsewhere. You always have people that care about you at work, and that is so important because it makes work enjoyable and a pleasure to go to.

Cons

Sometimes it can be difficult to move up in the company, but I think rather the more difficult piece is deciding which direction you would like to move in, as management is very, very accommodating and genuinely wants to develop you. They truly do develop their cast and will make sure to designate responsibilities to you to help you grow into the role you would like to assume. With that being said, there are definitely some blasé leadership members that make me question the promotion process but I suppose if you've been with a company long enough they have to shove you somewhere … However, most of the time the managers are excellent. Not enough promotion from within. Other con is that the schedules are typically not released until the last minute which is unfortunate for planning your life around, but that's probably the worst thing so it's not bad at all!

Pros

Gratis, not a hard job, easy to learn everything , a lot of opportunities to built connections with clients.

Cons

A lot of favoritism , very hard to move up ( it took 5 years for my auditor to become a lead... Seriously.....being a lead is not that hard) management is very fake, management is only super nice when the district manager is visiting. Store director should have more supervision over herself. Gratis is based favoritism. Break room is very cramped and disgusting . Things move so slow like asking for healthcare took 4 months to get info and asking for feedback is a road that management never fails to reach. Managers will fill Employees up with hope and empty promises . Too much bad talking about each other . If you want to work here and you want to move up, kiss as many asses as you can because it's not how much talent you have it's how much that like you.

Pros

It was a really positive experience because everyone is so encouraging. There's no real pressure to oversell things because it isn't commission based but we do contests so that it encourages us to work better as a team. The discount isn't that great but as a girl you end up buying stuff anyway so it's still a sweet deal, plus you get a lot of free stuff.

Cons

It's extremely difficult to request a day off even if you request it over a month ahead of time. The holiday season is very fast paced so you have to be prepared.
