Pros

NCPHS has wonderful mission and serves a wide variety of seniors -- from the very poor to the well-heeled. NCPHS is well-known and well-respected in the senior services industry. The fiscal management of this company is superb. In 2008-2009, NCPHS weathered the economic crash relatively unscathed because of excellent financial management and savvy cost-cutting. There were no layoffs during that rough period, which is impressive. This is a very solid company doing great work. NCPHS has been around for nearly 60 years and I'm sure they'll be around for decades to come. I recommend working here.

Cons

Historically has been VERY slow to change/get current with the times, although that has been changing for the better over the past year or so. Management has recently implemented a work from home policy and is constantly improving IT and bringing systems up to date. Communication is an issue - and it has been for years. However, recently management has been making efforts to improve communication and be better about informing employees about plans for the company.

Good Place to Work

Pros

Overall, NCPHS is a good organization with hard working folks at its communities. Resident satisfaction is relatively high and the organization offers great benefits and work-life balance to its employees. People in senior management are good listeners for the most part.

Cons

Senior management severely lacks diversity. People of ethnic origins and young ages often get overlooked in advancement opportunities and pay raises. Senior management can be very traditional and mundane with ideas and hirings/promotions. Outside consultants often have much larger influence in decision making than internal directors, which could indicate lack of confidence in themselves. The home office could improve communication and grow some patience with its communities but everyone here seems to be good-hearted and striving for excellence in their own ways.

Pros

Great benefits. Great IT Department. Staff is very friendly. Management usually bends over Backwards (to the extent they can) to accommodate employee needs.

Cons

Going through some growing pains. Communication is not good.Too often, knowledge of how something works should be shared, too often, it isn't and then people try to improvise. Middle management is stuck between senior management and front line employees.
